META CRITIC
Metacritic is a platform for review available to both the common man and the critic that allows them to assign a positive, neutral or negative review as well as written backup explaining their opinions on exactly what they meant by their comment. From there, the user reviews are compiled based on score and an overall is cast based on the average with the two distinct categories, certified critic and general contributor, having their own very telling conclusions.
The great thing about Metacritic is that it give anyone the opportunity to be heard and, assuming you can write well and articulate an opinion, you can even rank alongside the professionals for what browsers see when they come across the reviews of said property. There is however a bit of disparity between the two branches as evidenced by comparing the top Horror movies by score since the top 3 from the actual writers are films like Werckmesiter Harmonies and Repulsion which I nor anyone I know could tell you anything about whilst the average film goer puts 'Scream', 'A Nightmare On Elm Street', 'Alien' and more classics in it's upper echelons and as such, to see what the people are actually hungry for I'd go to the user score.

As you can see, although there is some overlap, the majority of critically acclaimed horror films are hit cult or indie movies with a small following whilst the user reviews speak to some of the biggest franchises in the genre. Since SYNTH is a retro styled psychological slasher, it's quite a safe bet that it will do well with a commercial audience as 7 of the top 10 films fit into at least one of those categories with key elements from other popular media mixing into the established trends of these giants to create a cinematic experience that should appeal to both those out for a cheap thrill and those in it for the thinking.
